Make your timeline with your AI agent

Try: “Make a life timeline from my résumé. Show my education and jobs, and add the years I lived abroad.” Or: “Add my new role to this timeline and switch it to bars.”

A birthday is optional. You can supply a LinkedIn profile, paste a résumé, or describe your chapters in your own words. If your agent can’t access a profile, paste the relevant dates and roles. It should keep gaps open until you fill them in.

Install through the Skills directory CLI. It works with agents that support the Agent Skills format. When the installer finds one agent on your computer, it sets that one up; when it finds several or none, it asks which to set up. It also asks whether the skill is for the current project or for all your projects. Add --global to install it for all your projects.

It places the skill where each agent looks. Claude Code reads skills from .claude/skills in a project and ~/.claude/skills for all your projects. Codex reads .agents/skills in a project and ~/.agents/skills for all your projects. Or download the Lifecharts skill and unzip it into a folder named lifecharts inside one of those skills folders, for example ~/.claude/skills/lifecharts. The package includes the instructions and a standalone CLI. It runs with Node.js 22.14 or newer, or Bun 1.3.14 or newer. No account or API key is needed.

To check that your agent found it, run /skills in Claude Code or Codex. If Lifecharts isn’t listed, start a new session. Then ask your agent to make your timeline with the Lifecharts skill, or call it by name: /lifecharts in Claude Code, $lifecharts in Codex. You can read the skill before installing it.

Your agent returns a verified link and can save an editable JSON document. Paste either into the Lifecharts editor to review it. Send the same timeline back to your agent when you want to add a chapter or change the view.

Timeline view aligns chapters by date. Bars compare how much time each chapter has occupied. Your selected view, theme, and scale travel with the share link and embed.

The timeline can use a birthday or begin at your first known chapter. Any future horizon is a reference you choose. It does not predict how long you will live.

The @hraness/lifecharts package creates timelines from JSON, inspects existing links, validates dates and nesting, and compiles edits into verified share and embed URLs. Install it with npm, or run it once with npx:

Installation downloads the tools. Chart commands run locally and never fetch a profile or upload a timeline. The skill includes the same commands, so you can choose whichever setup fits your agent.

Supported global installs on macOS and Linux check for updates once a day before a command. Use lifecharts update disable to keep a version, or HRANESS_NO_UPDATE=1 for an offline command. On Windows, update through npm or Bun. Copied skill helpers and temporary npx runs keep their installed version.

A timeline link contains everything you entered, and anyone with the complete link can read it. The timeline data sits after the # in the link, which browsers don’t send to our server. If you paste the link into a hosted AI agent, that provider receives it. In Lifecharts, personalized link previews stay off unless you turn them on when you share. More about privacy →
